Jul 24 Wed
State Rep Morris schedules education forum on July 24 at Ozark High School
9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Eastern Christian County 140th State Rep Lynn Morris schedules education forum

State Rep Lynn MorrisState Rep. Lynn Morris, R-Ozark, wants to have a meeting with other lawmakers, board of education members, school administrators, teachers and parents on education issues.

Representative Morris wants to talk about the legislature passed bill (HB253) which would drastically cut business income tax in Missouri. Governor Jay Nixon, who vetoed the bill, called the bill “an ill-conceived, fiscally irresponsible experiment” that would jeopardize funding for education and other services. Click here for Gov. Nixon’s veto letter. Representative Morris has stated he is in favor of the income tax cut bill.

Another item to be discussed is Common Core Standards, a set of criteria that the National Governors Association introduced in 2010. The standards are designed to set a target for mathematics and language arts instruction in public schools across the country. Here is the link to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) web page on Common Core Stands in Missouri:  http://dese.mo.gov/divimprove/curriculum/Common_Core.html

Representative Morris says: “I’ve had people ask me about Common Core, I’ve had people ask me about other things. We can talk about the tax cut bill, whatever you want to talk about, we can talk about those things.”

Schedule

Wednesday, July 24, 2013; 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.
Auditorium at Ozark High School

We believe it is very important that people show up that may disagree with the Republican agenda and talking points. Rep. Morris needs to know that there are other viewpoints other than his party leadership.
