Jim Billedo (current Chair of the Christian County Democratic Central Committee) is running for the 20th Missouri Senatorial District. This covers Christian County as well as Greene County. Jay Wasson is our current State Senator. Jim will be running against Eric Burlison in November.

Jim invites you to join him for a “Meet the Candidates” night on Tuesday, July 22nd at 6:00 pm at Strafford City Hall (126 S Washington Street, Strafford, MO).

Jim will also be attending the “Political Rally” at Turners Station Mercantile (out State Hwy D (E Sunshine St) to E Farm Road 148) on Sunday, July 22nd between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Jim Billedo wants to work for YOU! Jim isn’t just the Local 6312 President of the Communication Workers of America and a Trustee of the Springfield Labor Council, Jim is also our very own Chair of the Christian County Democratic Central Committee. In the November 2014 election Jim will run against Republican Lynn Morris for the 140th Representative District. This District includes most of Ozark, Sparta, Bruner and Oldfield.

Jim is running because he believes hard-working people deserve to make a living without having to rely on government assistance to make ends meet. He also believes that workers should have the same right to organize and participate in the political process just as businesses lobby for their interests.

Over the past decade, the Missouri Legislature has embraced a special-interest agenda that favors big corporations over working-class people. Jim promises to work on:

  • Support the creation of living wage jobs
  • End corporate tax credits that return nothing to the community
  • Protect workers’ rights
  • Invest in quality education, job training and student financial aid

Neither snow nor cold stopped the Christmas Festivities

On December 23, 2013, in Event, Thoughts, by Christian County Democrats

Many Christian County Democrats travelled the snow-covered roads to enjoy our 22nd annual Christmas Party at Island Green Golf Club. After a fine meal, Jay Swearingen, state legislator from Kansas City, spoke to us about his plans to run for State Auditor in 2014. We also enjoyed our favorite band, The Cattywampus Band, who played for most of the evening. Our auctioneer this year was Matt Patterson, assisted by Zoe Billedo; top dollars were paid for the donated items: 10 gift baskets, 6 homemade pies, and 3 gift certificates. A $100 fishing cooler with assorted fishing gear was raffled off, as well as a 50/50 pot. AND besides some beautiful poinsettias being given away, we had a door prize! Few folks walked away empty-handed, and the Central Committee raised funds for the 2014 election year.

The Litton Award, given each year to a deserving member of our Christian County Democratic community, was presented to Anita Jones for her dedication to our cause. (Unfortunately Anita was down in Florida, basking in the sun!)

Thank you to all those who donated their time and/or items for the auction. And a large thanks to our sponsors!

Seeking new Secretary for Central Committee

On June 20, 2013, in Announcement, Democratic Party, Get Involved, by Christian County Democrats

With the resignation of former Secretary Dick Wilson, the Christian County Democratic Central Committee (CCDCC) is seeking a replacement. Bylaws stipulate that the secretary and treasurer shall be a woman and a man; the current treasurer is female and therefore the new secretary must be male. He does not have to be a committee member, but should be able to attend most meetings and maintain a record of meeting actions. If interested, please contact CCDCC Chair, Jim Billedo.
